In this analytical role that requires a commercial mindset, you will leverage data to derive actionable insights, support sales strategies, and drive our business forward. You'll be instrumental in ensuring that our sales and user base operations are effective, optimized, and aligned with customer needs.
About the team
This role is located within the SMB team of Marktplaats and 2dehands. Our team focuses on enabling Small and Medium sized businesses (SMBs) to become successful on our platforms. SMBs are true creators and passionate people who can enrich the lives of buyers with their unique and local products. More than 90,000+ SMBs are currently active and successful on our platforms. The role reports into the Head of SMB.
What you’ll do
Actionable Sales Insights: Interpret performance data to provide actionable insights tailored to individual customers, sales categories, and segments, ensuring optimal quarterly results.
Strategy & Insight Integration: Contribute to the sales strategy with data and insights, ensuring the team is informed and aligned.
Sales Targeting & Monitoring: Assist in setting sales targets, monitor their progress, and provide feedback for adjustments and opportunities/threats as they arise.
User Base Analysis: Extract and analyze data from various channels, such as outreach and marketing, to understand our user behavior better and improve our approach.
Customer Journey Optimization: Collaborate with the User Base Manager to identify opportunities in the customer journey, based on data. Spot triggers and touchpoints that can be optimized for better user engagement and impact.
Performance & Spend Analysis: Provide support in understanding customer performance and spend, especially during convergence or migration phases.
Technical Analysis: Conduct ad hoc analyses using SQL, dashboards or other tools to support business decisions and improve customer performance.
Collaboration & Tools: Engage with various teams, using tools like CRM systems and analytics platforms, to ensure cohesive strategies and shared insights.
Reporting & Presentation: Creating regular reports on sales performance, customer insights, market trends, and other relevant metrics. Presenting findings and recommendations to the SMB management, sales team, and stakeholders.
Who you are
Experience: 5+ years of commercial analyst or closely related experience in commercial environments
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Statistics, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications would be advantageous.
Analytical Skills: Proficient in using tools like Google Sheets, Excel, and SQL to extract, analyze, and interpret data from various sources, including dashboards and raw datasets. Demonstrated ability to identify trends and convert insights into actionable business strategies.
Communication skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams, understanding and valuing the inputs from different departments.
Problem-Solving: A solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to think critically, handle ambiguity, and navigate challenges proactively.
Commercial Instinct: An innate ability to grasp market dynamics, recognize commercial opportunities, and intuitively understand what drives business success in our sector. This goes beyond data analysis – it's about having a "gut feel" for what will work commercially and what won't.
Business Acumen: The ability to understand the business model, financials, and revenue streams, and how they relate to performance data.
Attention to Detail: Precision in data handling, with a commitment to accuracy and consistency.
You need to be currently resident of the Netherlands and entitled to work here (EU citizen, in possession of VISA, residence permit etc.)
